Composer's Note
Composer’s Note:
Duo for Clarinet and Horn was written for close friends and couple Thomas Weißschnur (clarinet) and Lisa Rogers (horn) and is set in four movements. “Invocation” opens the work with an austere yet robust tolling of sound and energy. “Contraption” evokes an imagined machine, moving and gesticulating in surprising and unpredictable patterns. “Lyric” offers a dialogue of melody and counter-melody, creating an interplay of voices. The “Finale” brings the piece to a lively close with a playful, dance-like energy.
