Marimba Concerto in the Czech Republic

It was a delight to visit the Czech Republic for the first time and hear my Marimba Concerto performed live. There was a pleasant connection to be noticed: I wrote the piece as a young composer, and here it was brought to life by two outstanding young professionals.

The theme of youth was self-evident and introduced from the stage. Lenka Titzová, who had won a prestigious competition the year prior, gave a commanding performance as soloist. And it was a stroke of good fortune to have Juya Shin conducting. Her deep understanding of the work and clarity from the podium was stupendous.
